Carlos Queiroz has pledged his full commitment to Ghana after the Ghana Football Association confirmed him as head coach of the Black Stars.

In his first public statement since the appointment, the experienced Portuguese tactician called the role a national responsibility and said he will work to restore discipline, unity and pride to the squad. “It is with a deep sense of gratitude to GFA, responsibility, and humility that I embrace this new chapter with the National Football Team of Ghana,” he said.

Queiroz — who has managed several national teams and top clubs on multiple continents — said his long career has shaped a coaching philosophy born of challenges and lessons learned. He described Ghana as the next important chapter, particularly as the team prepares for key international fixtures, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup cycle. “Football has given me a lifetime of challenges, lessons, and unforgettable journeys, all over the world. Today, I accept this mission with the same passion and commitment that have guided me throughout my career,” he added.

He singled out Ghana’s football culture as a major asset, praising the country’s talent and passion and promising to respect its history while working toward a brighter future. “Ghana is a nation of talent, pride, and footballing soul. I arrive with respect for its history and belief in its future,” Queiroz said.

Progress, he insisted, will require “unity, discipline and ambition” across the entire technical and playing structure. “Together, with unity, discipline, and ambition, we will work to honour the expectations of a great football nation,” he said, stressing that his appointment is driven by service rather than personal gain. “This is not just another job — it is a mission. And I am ready to give everything of my experience and knowledge once again, in service of the game and the happiness of people.”

Supporters have responded with cautious optimism, hoping Queiroz’s experience at the highest level will help rebuild the Black Stars ahead of upcoming international engagements.
