NHIA Registers 3,000+ in Volta at day 1 of PCR4UHC Market Durbars

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has made significant strides in expanding its coverage in the Volta Region, with over 3,000 people registering and renewing their membership on the first day of the Provider and Client Relations For Universal Health Coverage (PCR4UHC) Market Durbar drive.
The two-week initiative, which kicked off on March 2 and will run until March 13, aims to accelerate the NHIA’s push toward Universal Health Coverage, strengthen partnerships with healthcare providers, and ensure transparent service delivery.

The PCR4UHC Market Durbar Drive, led by Madam Hamdiyah Amadu Yakubu, Deputy Director for Provider and Client Relations, in close collaboration with Madam Susan Chobah, Volta Regional Director is deploying a high-impact strategy to engage directly with market women and communities in 10 key locations across the region, including Kpando, Mafi-Kumasi, Aflao Denu, Akatsi, Dzodze, Ho, Hohoe, Keta, North Dayi and South Dayi.
In Mafi-Kumasi, the team held meetings with key local leaders, including Hon. Amos Azanu, Assembly Member and Madam Faustine Gometu, the Market Queen Mother.

“At the NHIA, we remain committed to strict policy adherence and building a stronger health insurance scheme for every Ghanaian,” Madam Yakubu said.
The initiative is part of Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, CEO of the Health Insurance Authority’s (NHIA), strategic plan to expand the NHIS database and ensure healthcare for all.
On the first day of the drive, the team registered 3,089 members in the North Tongu District, with the North Tongu District team and the Provider Relations team facilitating on-site registrations, renewals, and card replacements.

The NHIA’s Corporate Affairs Directorate is leading the sensitization exercise, with a team of officials, including, Madam Faustina Derry, Head of Communications, Mr. Judge Opoku Sarkodie and Madam Hannatu Mustapha Adam, senior managers as well as Mr. Jerry John Amedzro, Manager of the North Tongu District, providing strategic oversight and technical support.
Other delegation members include Mr. Isaac Boamah-Darko (Manager), Mrs. Joyce Acolatse (Manager), Naa-Imwin Wononuah (Assistant Manager), Adriana Akyaa Afriyie, Esq. (Senior Officer), Juliet Asamoah (Senior Officer) and Officers Joyce Akolatse, Rebecca Baah, Samuel Larbi and Hadassah Seli Agbenyo.

The initiative has received strong support from regional and district teams with the Volta Regional Director, Madam Susan Chobbah, welcoming the delegation and pledging full commitment to the initiative. To ensure operational readiness, Mr. Isaac Boamah-Darko, Manager – Provider Relations, presented the official sensitization schedule.
The NHIA team will conduct intensive educational sessions to sensitize the public on NHIS policies, available services, and the national campaign against illegal payments, and resolve membership-related grievances on the spot.
