The Offuman Traditional Council, led by Omanhemaa Nana Akosua Amobea II, has voiced strong support for Alan Kyerematen’s Great Transformational Plan (GTP), specifically his vision to empower chiefs as co-trustees of Ghana’s natural resources. Nana Akosua Amobea’s endorsement indicates a growing support from traditional authorities for the Movement for Change leader’s commitment to greater involvement of chiefs in national governance.
During a recent Caravan Tour stop in Offuman in the Bono East, Mr. Kyerematen’s team, being led by Hopeson Adorye, paid a courtesy call on the Offuman Traditional Council to discuss the candidate’s plans for the nation. Alan Kyerematen’s pledge to include chiefs as co-trustees resounded strongly with Nana Akosua Amobea II, who expressed optimism about the impact this initiative could have on the role of traditional leaders. “Alan Kyerematen’s vision shows deep respect for the wisdom of our chiefs and for the long-standing traditions that sustain our communities,” she remarked.
Nana Akosua Amobea II believes this proposal could also bring renewed dignity and authority to the chieftaincy institution, which she says has lost respect among the youth. “Today’s youth often lack respect for chiefs, and it is disheartening to see this decline in traditional values. If Alan Kyerematen’s policy is implemented, hope shall be restored in the institution of chieftaincy,” the Omanhemaa observed.
The endorsement from the Offuman Omanhemaa aligns with Mr. Kyerematen’s Great Transformational Plan, which emphasizes the inclusion of traditional authorities in governance and decision-making processes. By making chiefs co-trustees, Alan Kyerematen aims to create a more balanced stewardship over the country’s lands and resources. Nana Akosua Amobea II stated, “This policy will reinforce the role of chiefs as custodians, and it shows that Alan Kyerematen values our leadership and cultural heritage.”
The Offuman Traditional Council’s support reflects a growing trend among chiefs who view Mr. Kyerematen’s GTP as a means to bridge the gap between governance and traditional leadership. This unique approach, the Omanhemaa believes, will help Ghana tap into the knowledge and experience of chiefs in resource management. “Our culture holds the key to sustainable development, and when given the chance, we can guide our youth and protect our lands,” she added.
Hopeson Adorye, representing Alan Kyerematen on the Caravan Tour, thanked the Offuman Traditional Council for their warm reception and endorsement of the GTP. Hopeson Adorye stressed that Alan Kyerematen’s commitment to the chieftaincy institution is genuine and stems from a deep understanding of the role chiefs play in Ghana’s social fabric. “The future Alan envisions is one where our chiefs are empowered to serve and safeguard our resources,” Mr. Adorye affirmed.
This endorsement by the Offuman Omanhemaa is expected to strengthen Alan’s campaign as the Movement for Change pushes forward in its efforts to engage with communities across the country. The M4C’s caravan tour has become an effective platform for showcasing the policies that differentiate Alan Kyerematen from other candidates.
As Ghana approaches the elections, traditional authorities like Nana Akosua Amobea II are increasingly rallying behind the Movement for Change, attracted by Mr. Kyerematen’s commitment to meaningful governance reforms. “We are proud to stand with Alan Kyerematen because he stands with us,” the Omanhemaa concluded, calling on the youth and citizens to support the vision of restoring respect and value to traditional leadership.
