By: Isaac Boamah Darko

In a recent address, the Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, Paul Twum-Barimah, has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to maintain unity and peace as the party approaches the final stages of the internal electoral process to elect a flagbearer for the 2024 polls.

Acknowledging the heightened tensions within the party in recent times, Twum-Barimah emphasized the importance of approaching this crucial period with unity, empathy, and a shared sense of purpose. He stressed that by working together, the NPP can ensure a peaceful and inclusive electoral process that strengthens the rank and file of the party.

“I call on all stakeholders, aspirants, and their supporters to create a peaceful atmosphere before, during, and after the November 4, 2023 presidential primaries,” Twum-Barimah stated. He further highlighted the significance of refraining from conduct such as hate speech, misinformation, or incitement to violence, as these actions could undermine the electoral process and the unity enjoyed within the party.

The Dormaa East MP reminded party members that their main aim as a political entity is to retain political power. He emphasized that unity, dedication, and commitment are crucial in achieving this goal. “When we stand together, we shall break barriers and continue to achieve great things in building a formidable party and a stronger Ghana,” Twum-Barimah expressed with confidence.

In a respectful appeal, he called on all party members to come together as one and strive to break any barriers that may hinder their progress. Twum-Barimah expressed his hope that this petition would receive the needed attention and that all courtesies rendered would be gladly appreciated.

In conclusion, he exclaimed, “Yes, we can! We shall break barriers!” and extended his blessings to the New Patriotic Party and the homeland of Ghana, hoping for greatness and strength.

The call for unity and peace from the Dormaa East MP comes at a crucial time for the NPP as they prepare for the upcoming presidential primaries. It remains to be seen how party members will respond to this plea and whether it will have a positive impact on the internal electoral process.
