NPP Introduces Online Membership Registration; Koduah Assures Strict Verification for Internal Elections

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Koduah, has reassured party supporters that the newly launched digital membership registration system will not compromise the integrity of the party’s internal electoral process.

The online platform, according to him, has been introduced to make it easier for individuals who wish to join the party but are unable to visit their polling stations during the week due to work or other commitments.

Addressing journalists at a press conference on Thursday, March 12, Mr. Koduah explained that although the registration portal is accessible to any Ghanaian interested in joining the party, strict verification procedures will be applied before members can participate in internal voting or contest for party positions.

He noted that while the system allows open registration, eligibility to vote or run for office within the party will depend on thorough validation of applicants.

Responding to concerns that political rivals might exploit the online process to infiltrate the party’s membership database, Mr. Koduah stated that anyone who wishes to join the NPP is free to do so.

He added that even prominent figures from the opposition, including Johnson Asiedu Nketiah of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), would not be prevented from signing up if they decide to align with the party.

However, he emphasized that only individuals who successfully pass the party’s verification checks will be allowed to vote in internal elections or seek leadership positions.

Mr. Koduah further disclosed that to address concerns about some party officials allegedly trying to dominate the registration exercise, the NPP will also organize physical registration sessions at polling stations every weekend throughout March.

He said the move is intended to make the process more transparent and accessible to party members across the country while strengthening confidence in the registration exercise.
