During today’s proceedings, James Agalga, the Vice Chairman of the special parliamentary committee investigating the leaked tape concerning the plot to remove Inspector General of Police, expressed his frustration with the committee’s chairman, Samuel Atta Akyea, due to his biased stance.

Sources within the committee revealed that Agalga abruptly walked out in anger after Atta Akyea disregarded his suggestion to adhere to the committee’s designated scope of work.

“Mr. Chairman, you cannot treat me this way. If you do not want me on the committee, I will gladly step aside,” the lawmaker reportedly exclaimed.

Reportedly, it was Eric Opoku, another committee member, who managed to convince Agalga to return to the conference room and resume his seat.

Furthermore, during today’s hearing, the chairman prevented members of the Police Management Board from attending the committee session to show support for the Inspector General of Police.

The committee’s main focus is to investigate the tape, which captured conversations involving three senior police officers and a politician, discussing plans to remove the IGP due to his refusal to condone election rigging in the upcoming 2024 polls.
