Mahama Embarks on Official Visit to South Korea to Boost Ghana–Korea Relations
John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to embark on a working visit to South Korea from March 10 to March 14, 2026, in a move aimed at enhancing diplomatic ties and expanding economic collaboration between Ghana and the Asian nation.
During the trip, President Mahama will engage in high-level discussions with the President of South Korea, Lee Jae-myung, focusing on strengthening cooperation in key sectors and exploring new opportunities for partnership between the two countries. He is also expected to meet with the Speaker of the South Korean National Assembly, Woo Won-shik, as part of efforts to deepen parliamentary and diplomatic relations.
As part of his itinerary, the Ghanaian leader will attend a ship-naming ceremony at the shipyard of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries located in Ulsan. The ceremony highlights ongoing collaboration between Ghana and the South Korean maritime industry.
President Mahama will also deliver a keynote address at a conference event hosted by Yonsei University, one of South Korea’s leading academic institutions, where discussions are expected to focus on development cooperation and international partnerships.
In addition, the President will meet members of the Ghanaian community residing in South Korea, including students and professionals, to interact and discuss issues affecting them abroad.
The visit will conclude with a dinner engagement involving business executives and industry leaders aimed at encouraging investment and fostering stronger commercial links between Ghana and South Korea
