Police Arrest Notorious Land Guard at Abokobi, Retrieve Firearms and Ammunition

The Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects, including a suspected notorious land guard, during an intelligence-led operation at Abokobi, leading to the retrieval of several firearms and ammunition.

The main suspect, Saviour Kojo Ekpe, was arrested on March 5, 2026, following intelligence reports linking him to acts of intimidation and the illegal possession of firearms within Abokobi and nearby communities.

According to police sources, the suspect had allegedly been terrorising residents in the area and was also suspected of renting out firearms to criminals for unlawful activities.

A search conducted in Ekpe’s room uncovered a cache of weapons and ammunition, including four pump-action guns, 101 AA and BB live cartridges, one Glock Austria pistol, 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and a jack knife.

During interrogation, Ekpe reportedly admitted ownership of the weapons but failed to provide lawful justification for possessing them. He claimed that some of the firearms were used for hunting and personal protection.

However, investigators believe the weapons may have been supplied or rented out to individuals involved in criminal activities in the area.

In a related development, police also arrested Emmanuel Abbey, who is believed to be an accomplice of Ekpe. Abbey was picked up for allegedly threatening the life of a complainant connected to the case.

Both suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations.

The police say further updates will be provided as investigations continue.
