Stolen Mamprobi Polyclinic Neonate Found, Suspect Arrested
A neonate abducted from Mamprobi Polyclinic in Accra has been retrieved safely following a prompt and extensive police operation, with a female suspect currently in custody. The infant was purportedly taken from the healthcare facility on Tuesday, February 18, situated in the Ablekuma South constituency.
The incident elicited an immediate response from the Ghana Police Service, who initiated a thorough search operation upon receiving a distress call from hospital authorities and the infant’s family.
The suspect’s identity has not been disclosed pending further interrogation aimed at elucidating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the modus operandi employed to gain access to the child.
The baby’s retrieval was facilitated through the concerted efforts of the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, who played a pivotal role in coordinating between law enforcement, community members, and the aggrieved family. The MP accompanied officials to ensure the infant’s safe return to Mamprobi Polyclinic.
Upon arrival, medical personnel conducted an immediate assessment, confirming the child is stable and receiving requisite treatment under close observation as a precautionary measure.
Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, was present at the clinic, expressing relief at the child’s safe return and commending the police and stakeholders involved for their expeditious intervention.
