Kofi Ofosu Nkansah Loses Father Days After Release From BNI Custody

Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, former CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has suffered a personal loss with the sudden death of his father. The news comes just days after his release from BNI custody, where he was detained and investigated over allegations of publishing false information about government-funded overseas scholarships.

In a social media post, Mr. Nkansah described his father’s passing as “unexpected and shocking”, noting that he had only been attending routine check-ups and had no prior health issues. The loss is a poignant reminder of the intense pressure and stress he faced during his detention and investigation.

Mr. Nkansah was detained on February 5, 2026, after making comments on Sompa Radio 106.5 FM, and was later charged and granted bail of GH¢500,000 on February 11. The incident sparked political controversy, with the NPP and Minority Caucus condemning the BNI’s actions as politically motivated.

The former NEIP boss had been balancing his legal battles with personal responsibilities, including caring for his ailing father. His loss is being mourned as a personal tragedy and a reminder of the strain of politically sensitive investigations in Ghana.
