Police Nab ‘Ekow Black’ After Disturbing Assault Video Circulates Online

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man seen in a widely circulated video physically assaulting a woman, an incident that sparked public condemnation across various social media platforms.

The suspect, identified as Christford Affadu Danful, popularly known as Ekow Black, was arrested on Thursday, January 15, 2026, following an intelligence-led operation by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The arrest came after the disturbing footage gained traction online, prompting swift police action.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect and the victim were previously living together and had a history of unresolved disagreements. These disputes reportedly degenerated from frequent verbal confrontations into physical violence, with the incident captured in the viral video believed to be one of several alleged assaults.

Police sources say the victim is currently assisting with investigations as officers work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. The suspect remains in lawful custody and is expected to be put before a court to face charges in accordance with the law.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, upholding human rights, and ensuring that perpetrators of violence are held accountable. The Service further assured the public that it will continue to leverage intelligence and technology to track and apprehend individuals involved in criminal acts, particularly those exposed through digital and social media platforms.
