POLICE NAB 7 IN HO HUMAN TRAFFICKING BUST, RESCUE 48 VICTIMS

The Ghana Police Service has arrested seven suspected members of a human trafficking syndicate and rescued forty-eight victims in two separate intelligence-led operations in Ho, in the Volta Region.

The suspects — Emmanuel Asiamah, Frimpong Jerry, Paul Mensah, Bismark Perry, Vida Gefah, Ebenezer Kwabena Owusu, and Prince Kaku — were arrested on January 8 and January 10, 2026, during coordinated operations carried out at Fiave Dablah Ayekple Street, Ho CK Road, and Somey Junction.

Police say the forty-eight victims, mostly young adults and students, were lured with false promises of travelling abroad. Investigations indicate that the victims were kept under deceptive and coercive conditions after being made to pay various sums of money.

Items retrieved during searches at the locations included official-looking receipts issued to victims after monies were collected under the pretext of securing visas, as well as assorted documents believed to be linked to other fraudulent activities.

All seven suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to trace the parents and relatives of the rescued victims and to apprehend additional suspects believed to be part of the trafficking network who are currently on the run.

The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling organised criminal networks and protecting the public from human trafficking and related scams, urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
