Gold Empire Resources Commends Government for Swift Action Against Illegal Mining on Bunso Concession
Gold Empire Resources Ltd. has praised the Government of Ghana and relevant state agencies for what it describes as prompt and decisive action against illegal mining activities on its legally acquired Bunso concession.
In a statement issued on January 12, 2026, the company expressed appreciation to government authorities and institutions that responded swiftly to its formal complaints, noting that their interventions helped halt the unlawful operations on the concession .
According to Gold Empire Resources, illegal mining continues to pose a serious national challenge, with damaging effects on the environment, water bodies, farmlands, local livelihoods and legitimate investments. The company said the recent actions taken at Bunso demonstrate professionalism, commitment to the rule of law, and the protection of Ghana’s natural resources.
While acknowledging the progress made, Gold Empire Resources called for a thorough, impartial and comprehensive investigation into the illegal mining activities on the concession. The company urged authorities to identify not only the individuals directly involved but also financiers, sponsors and any persons or groups who provided access, protection or logistical support to the illegal operations .
The company further appealed for the prosecution of all perpetrators in accordance with Ghanaian law, stressing that firm and consistent enforcement is essential to deter future illegal mining and safeguard the integrity of the country’s mining sector.
