Nine Remanded Over Assault on Police Officers at Obuasi SHS Park

The Obuasi Circuit Court has remanded nine individuals into prison custody in connection with an assault on police officers at the Tweapease Senior High School Park in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects — Joshua Frimpong, popularly known as Joey B; Bannor Williams; Isaac Dwumfour, also called Sporty; Evans Bannor, known as Pressure King; Asiedu Ronald (Case Close); Sarfo Alex (Okele); Yaw Alex; Obidiaba Desmond; and Agyemang Emmanuel — were arraigned before the court on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

They are facing charges of assaulting public officers following an incident that was captured in a viral video circulating on social media. The footage shows a group of individuals attacking police personnel who were on official duty at the Tweapease Senior High School Park.

According to the prosecution, the accused persons allegedly acted together with others, some of whom are currently at large, to carry out the attack on the officers.

The court ordered that the nine suspects be held in prison custody as investigations into the case continue.

Meanwhile, the police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of their officers and the public, warning that anyone who attacks law enforcement personnel will be tracked down and made to face the full force of the law.
