Farmer Butchers Couple over Cashew Farm dispute

The Berekum Circuit Court has remanded Emmanuel Yeboah into police custody in connection with allegations of attempted murder and causing harm.

Presided over by His Honour Mr. Osei Kofi Amoako, the court issued the order following the suspect’s arraignment over a violent attack that reportedly left two people with multiple injuries.

According to the Bono Regional Police Command, the suspect was arrested on January 3, 2026, after police received a report of an assault involving the victims.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly ambushed the victims—his brother and his brother’s wife—while they were on their way to a disputed cashew farm. Police believe the attack stemmed from a long-standing disagreement over the ownership of the farmland.

A cutlass believed to have been used in the attack was retrieved by police and has been retained as an exhibit. The victims are currently receiving medical treatment at a health facility, where they remain on admission.

The court has adjourned the case, and Emmanuel Yeboah is expected to reappear before the Berekum Circuit Court on January 12, 2026, for the continuation of proceedings.

The police have reaffirmed their commitment to public safety and have urged residents to resolve disputes through lawful means.
