Plot to Kill Akyem Kwabeng Chief Foiled: Two Arrested

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals, Emelia Akua Asor and Butuakwa Seth, for allegedly plotting to assassinate Daasebre Ayimadu Kantamanto II, Chief of Akyem Kwabeng and Gyasehene of the Akyem Abuakwa State. The suspects were apprehended following an intelligence-led operation.

Intelligence Foils Plot

According to police, the plot was uncovered after intelligence was received on October 11, 2025, indicating a plan to eliminate the Chief ahead of his first Royal Durbar scheduled for October 17. Undercover officers infiltrated the suspects’ network and gathered evidence.

Suspects’ Plan

The suspects allegedly planned to kill the Chief and a woman slated for installation as Queen Mother. Emelia Akua Asor reportedly offered GHC 50,000 to undercover officers to execute the plan and promised an additional GHC 50,000 upon completion. Butuakwa Seth allegedly helped identify the Chief’s and Queen Mother’s residences and provided a photograph of the Chief.

Arrests and Investigations

Both suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. They will be put before court soon. The police command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, particularly traditional leaders in the region.

Police Commitment

DSP David Fianko-Okyere, Head of the Eastern South Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, assured the public that the command will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the security of the region.
