NHIA engages major stakeholders
The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in Accra, on October 2, 2025, organized a stakeholder engagement, under the auspices of the Private Health Insurance Schemes (PHIS), Directorate.

The gathering was themed, “Strengthening partnerships for a sustainable private health insurance industry.”
The participants were management of the Authority’s licensed private health insurance companies, credentialled healthcare service providers and development partners in the health sector.
The NHIA Chief Executive, Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe acknowledged the private health insurance industry players importance in the national agenda of attaining Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by 2030.
He emphasized the need for broader consultations and partnerships for building a robust health insurance network in Ghana.
He flagged the government’s Free Primary Health Care (FPHC) and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (Mahama Cares) initiatives and requested a collective action to ensure its successful implementation.

The Private Health Insurance Schemes (PHIS), Acting Director, Mr. William Omane-Adjekum encouraged a stronger collaboration with the NHIA in reinforcing the private health insurance industry.
He underscored the need for building an all-inclusive health insurance system, in line with the global UHC agenda.

During the open forum, the participants made valuable contributions and pledged to readjust to the government’s reset agenda in the health sector.
