GOLDBOD Introduces Special Bonus for Licence Miners

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has introduced a special temporary bonus of GHS832 per pound of gold for licensed miners across the country. This move aims to motivate licensed miners and combat gold smuggling.

The bonus brings the current price of a pound of gold to GHS9,700, up from GHS8,868. This development comes in response to complaints from licensed miners about the decline in local gold prices due to the appreciation of the Ghana cedi.

According to the GoldBod, the special bonus will ensure that licensed miners, who have significantly contributed to the country’s gold output and foreign exchange earnings, are protected from the effects of the cedi’s appreciation.

The GoldBod has directed its licensed traders to promptly pay the special bonus to all licensed miners who sell their gold to the board.

“This initiative demonstrates our commitment to supporting licensed miners and promoting the growth of Ghana’s gold industry,” said Prince Kwame Minka, Media Relations Officer at GoldBod.

The move is expected to boost the morale of licensed miners and further increase gold production in the country.
