Asante Kingdom Mourns: One-Week Observation for Late Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has announced preparations for the one-week observation of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, scheduled for Thursday, August 21, 2025. The revered queen mother passed away on August 7, 2025, at the age of 98, leaving behind a legacy of wisdom, compassion, and dedication to preserving Ashanti traditions.

A Life of Service and Devotion

Nana Konadu Yiadom III was known for her humility, wisdom, and impartiality in settling disputes. Her leadership style was marked by quiet strength and a deep commitment to justice. She made significant contributions to social welfare, founding the Nana Konadu Saviour School, championing maternal health initiatives, and making donations to Komfo Anokye and Manhyia hospitals.

The One-Week Rite

The one-week observation will be held at the forecourt of the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, where mourners from across Ghana and beyond are expected to gather to pay their last respects to the Asante monarch. The event will follow traditional Asante customs, with chiefs, queen mothers, government officials, and members of the public expected to attend in mourning attire.
