A somber mood engulfed the Obogu community in the Asante Akyem North Municipality as 16 members of the Saviour Church of Ghana were laid to rest in a mass burial on Wednesday. The victims lost their lives in a tragic road crash on the Atwedie section of the Kumasi-Accra highway on Monday, July 28, around 2:30 pm.

The church members were returning from their annual program held in the Eastern Region when their vehicle collided head-on with a fuel tanker traveling in the opposite direction. Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrific, with the impact causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

In a heartwarming display of community solidarity, members of the Obogu community and the Church came together to dig a single large grave to bury the 16 victims. This symbolic gesture served as a poignant reminder of the unity and bond that existed among the victims in life, and now, in death.

The mass burial ceremony was attended by grieving family members, friends, and church officials, all of whom paid their last respects to the victims. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many in deep mourning and struggling to come to terms with the tragic loss.

The Saviour Church of Ghana has been rocked by this devastating incident, and the community is rallying around the affected families to offer support and comfort during this difficult time. As the community begins the healing process, many are calling for increased road safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
