KUSASI CHIEF SHOT DEAD IN KUMASI
A brazen murder has shaken the Asawase community in the Ashanti Region after Abdul-Malik Azenbe, the Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region who doubles as the Kaadi Divisional Area Chief in the Bunduri District of the Upper East Region, was shot and killed outside his home on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
According to eyewitnesses, two masked individuals on a motorbike approached the Chief’s residence at Asawase F-line around 8:40 PM. One of the suspects, armed with an AK-47 rifle, opened fire on the Chief, shooting him multiple times before fleeing the scene.

The Chief was rushed to Manhyia District Hospital, where he received initial treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police Launch Investigation
Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe visited the deceased’s family to offer condolences and assure them of a thorough investigation. The police have promised to leave no stone unturned in apprehending the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.
The community is in shock, and residents are demanding swift action to catch the killers. The incident has raised concerns about security in the area, and many are calling for increased police presence.
