Police Foils Planned Robbery in Accra, Two Suspects Killed
The Ghana Police Service has successfully foiled a planned armed robbery in Accra, resulting in the deaths of two suspects and the injury of a police officer. The operation, led by the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) Headquarters in Accra, took place on Monday, July 15, 2025.
According to police reports, five armed men were lodging at a hotel in Labadi, planning to rob a foreign national at Cantonments. Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives tracked the suspects as they moved towards their target in a Toyota Yaris vehicle. When the suspects detected police surveillance, they opened fire, injuring one officer. The police returned fire, fatally injuring two suspects, who were later pronounced dead at the Police Hospital.

- Injured Police Officer: One officer sustained gunshot wounds to the legs and underarm and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital, responding well to treatment.
- Recovered Items: Two pump-action guns loaded with ammunition, live cartridges, three mobile phones, talismans, and other items believed to be linked to the foiled attack were retrieved from the scene.
- Manhunt: A nationwide manhunt has been launched to apprehend the remaining three suspects who are currently on the run.
