Amadum Adankwame Methodist Primary School in Shambles

By: Cynthia Akans

The Amadum Adankwame Methodist Primary School in the Atwima Nwabiagya South District of the Ashanti region is facing a severe crisis. Wee smokers have taken over the school premises, using it as a hangout spot and resorting to open defecation in classrooms due to the lack of proper infrastructure and fencing.

Poor State of the School

The school’s poor condition has raised concerns among teachers and the School Management Committee. “The poor nature of the school doesn’t speak well about the school,” said Mr. Stephen Osei Akoto, a member of the School Management Committee. The classroom blocks have damaged roofing, making it difficult for teachers and students during rainy days. The lack of furniture further complicates the situation.

Donation from Old Students’ Association

In a bid to alleviate some of the challenges, the old students’ association has donated student desks to the school. However, more needs to be done to address the school’s infrastructure issues.

Urgent Call for Help

Teachers at the school are dissatisfied with the situation, citing its impact on students’ academic performance and health risks. “This situation is unbearable,” said one teacher. “We need urgent help to restore our school’s dignity and ensure our students can learn in a safe environment.” Mr. Akoto has called on the government and benevolent individuals to support the school.

Restoring the School’s Dignity

The situation demands urgent action from authorities to provide necessary infrastructure, including fencing and proper toilet facilities. This would help restore the school’s dignity and ensure a conducive learning environment for students.
