Akyem Adadientam Chief Constructs 1.2Km Road, Calls For Gov’t Support

By: Doreen Boamah Darko

In a remarkable display of leadership and commitment to his community, the Chief of Akyem Adadientam, Barima Ofori Asante, has initiated the construction of a 1.2km major town road in his community. The project, which is being funded entirely by the chief and elders of the community, is a testament to the chief’s determination to improve the lives of his people.

*A Promise Fulfilled*

The chief had promised to construct the road during his installation in December 2022, and despite the challenges, he has made good on his word. The road, which has been a source of concern for residents due to its poor condition, is expected to greatly improve the lives of the people in the community.

 *Community-Led Initiative*

The project, which is being executed by REBISA Company Ltd, involves the construction of 0.6 diameter “U”-drains and paving block surfacing. The contractor, who is also the Mawerehene of the town, Bafour Boamah Darko, has assured that the project will be completed by December 2025 with the pavement construction if funding doesn’t become a problem.

 *No Government Support*

What’s remarkable about this project is that it is being funded entirely by the community, without any support from government or external institutions. The chief and elders have demonstrated prudent management of funds, which has made it possible for the dream to become a reality.

 *Chief’s Statement*

“Breaking free from over-reliance on government is key to empowering community self-help. We must take charge of our development and work together to build a better future for ourselves and our children,” said Chief Barima Ofori Asante. This statement reflects the chief’s vision for a self-reliant community that drives its own development.

 *Call for Support*

While the community is shouldering the burden of funding the project, the chief is calling on government and other agencies to support the initiative. He believes that with collaboration, the community can achieve even more. The chief’s commitment to improving the lives of his people is an inspiration to others, and his initiative is a shining example of community-led development.
