Police Arrest Kasoa Break-In Robbery Suspect in Agbogbloshie
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with a break-in at a residence in Kasoa Nyayano, where a foreign national’s belongings worth thousands of cedis were stolen.
According to the facts of the case, Mohammed Muntari, the complainant, arrived in Ghana on May 12, 2025, and lodged in his brother’s house at Kasoa Nyayano. On the night of May 12, Muntari retired to bed, only to be woken up by a strange noise at around 0300 hours on May 13. To his surprise, he discovered that his iPhone 14 Pro Max valued at GHC 9,000.00, a Barclays ATM card, a UK driver’s license, and cash amounting to £2,000 had been stolen from his room.
Prompted by the incident, Muntari petitioned the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on May 19, 2025, for a thorough investigation into the matter. The police swung into action, obtaining CCTV footage of the crime scene, which revealed the accused person committing the crime.
After weeks of diligent investigation, the police finally tracked down and arrested the suspect from his hideout at Agbogbloshie on June 16, 2025. Notably, the accused was found wearing the same attire he used during the operation, further solidifying the evidence against him.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the crime in his caution statement. He also confessed to selling the stolen iPhone 14 Pro Max to an unknown person at Agbogbloshie for a sum of GHC 2,000.00. However, he failed to provide any leads to the police for the arrest of the buyer.
The swift action by the Ghana Police Service has brought relief to the victim and demonstrates the commitment of the security agencies to protecting the lives and property of residents and visitors alike. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and prompt reporting of crimes to the authorities.
The suspect is currently in police custody, and further investigations are ongoing to retrieve the remaining stolen items and bring all perpetrators to justice.
