Ghana Armed Forces Deploys Personnel to Support Peaceful Elections

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has begun deploying personnel to strategic locations across the country to support the Ghana Police Service (GPS) in maintaining peace and security during the December 7, 2024, Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

According to Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie, Director-General of Public Relations, the deployment is not a cause for alarm, and military personnel will not be stationed at polling stations. Instead, their role will be limited to providing standby support, with the GPS maintaining primary responsibility for election security.

This deployment comes amid heightened focus on ensuring a credible and peaceful election in a politically charged environment. The GAF reaffirms its commitment to upholding stability and sovereignty while contributing to a secure electoral process.
