Mahamah Under Fire: Ga/Dangme Youth Demand Apology for Derogatory Remarks
The Concerned Ga/Dangme Youth of Chorkor, have condemned the former President John Dramani Mahama’s recent comments about the Ga/Dangme people. The youth group deemed the remarks reckless, offensive and divisive.
A Call to Retraction and Apology
Spokesperson Nii Clottey expressed outrage and disappointment, emphasizing that every community deserves respect, dignity and equality. The group demands an immediate, unequivocal retraction and public apology from Mahama.
Insult to National Heritage
The Ga/Dangme youth stressed that undermining their contributions and heritage insults the nation. They cited notable achievements, including:
• Dr. Nii Ashitey Trebi Ollenu: renowned space engineer
• Dr. Felix Konotey-Ahulu: leading expert on sickle cell and developer of African tonal language writing method
• Nii Narku Quaynor: Africa’s “Father of the Internet” and pioneering computer engineer
• Herman Chinery-Hesse: Ghanaian software entrepreneur and founder of SOFTribe
