Franklin Cudjoe got it wrong on Akuffo Addo’s mandate…Centre for Global Affairs and Reaponsible Governance

The Centre for Global Affairs and Responsible Governance has disputed Franklin Cudjoe’s assertion that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has failed monumentally. According to the think tank, the President has delivered on his mandate, protected the constitution, and maintained territorial security.

Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, had rated Akufo-Addo’s presidency a failure, citing poor economic management, poverty, and unemployment. However, the Centre for Global Affairs argues that Akufo-Addo has fulfilled his constitutional obligations, including executing laws, appointing ministers, and promoting national welfare.

The Centre also highlighted Akufo-Addo’s achievements in:

  • Maintaining peace and security
  • Implementing policies to address national issues
  • Representing Ghana internationally
  • Upholding and defending the constitution

In response to Cudjoe’s criticism, the executive director of the Centre, Mathias Bonzo-ewereko BOATENG stated, “The President has not failed but has delivered on his mandate. Those responsible for the various portfolios who have failed are accountable for their failure, not the President.”

The Centre also emphasized that Akufo-Addo’s mandate is to serve the nation and its citizens, making decisions that promote prosperity, security, and well-being.

Ghana’s economy has faced challenges, including a debt exchange program and high inflation rates. However, the Centre for Global Affairs argues that Akufo-Addo’s government has taken steps to address these issues, including appointing a new finance minister and implementing policies to promote economic growth.

The debate highlights the differing opinions on Akufo-Addo’s presidency and his ability to deliver on his mandate. While Cudjoe and IMANI Africa have expressed disappointment, the Centre for Global Affairs and Responsible Governance maintains that the President has delivered on his mandate.
