Investigate GBC and Sports Minister – The Metro Lens Newspaper Petitions OSP
The Metro Lens Newspaper has petitioned the Office of the Special Prosecutor to investigate a payment dispute between the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding the All African Games.
According to letters obtained by our newspaper, a discrepancy of $2,895,000 has been uncovered, with the Minister claiming to have paid $3 million to GBC for broadcast rights, while GBC asserts receiving only $105,000.
In a letter to the Special Prosecutor, our Managing Editor, Isaac Boamah Darko, urged the office to investigate the matter to determine the actual amount paid, identify potential wrongdoing, and hold accountable any individuals or institutions found to have engaged in misconduct.
The petition highlights the need for transparency and accountability in the use of public funds, and we believe the Special Prosecutor’s office is best positioned to uncover the truth.
We have attached copies of the letters from GBC and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for reference.
This development comes as a blow to the credibility of the Ministry and GBC, and we hope the Special Prosecutor will act swiftly to resolve this matter
