Parliamentary Probe Exposes Conspiracy Against IGP, Accusers Caught Lying

A parliamentary investigation has uncovered a shocking conspiracy to remove the Inspector General of Police (IGP) based on partisan considerations, with two senior police officers, Supt Gyebi and Supt Asare, caught lying under oath.

The probe revealed that the initial audio recording, which went viral, was only a partial representation of the conversations between Chief Bugri Naabu, COP Mensah, Supt Asare, and Supt Gyebi. A second audio recording, provided by Chief Bugri Naabu, revealed the full extent of the conspiracy.

The investigation found that COP Mensah, Supt Asare, and Supt Gyebi attempted to conspire against the IGP, soliciting Chief Bugri Naabu’s assistance to influence the President. This act was deemed political, unprofessional, and contrary to police regulations.

Furthermore, the Committee found Supt Gyebi and Supt Asare guilty of contempt of Parliament for providing false testimony, contradicting their earlier statements. The matter has been referred to the Privileges Committee for further action.

This development raises concerns about the integrity of the accusations and the potential undermining of Ghana’s democracy. The IGP has been cleared of any wrongdoing, and the incident highlights the need for accountability and truth in the country’s institutions.
