You’re alien, back off Ejisu seat!, NPP Delegates chase Nyantakyi

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ejisu constituency is buzzing with controversy as delegates are after the former Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, urging him to back off from contesting in the upcoming primaries.

Several NPP delegates in Ejisu expressed their surprise at Nyantakyi’s sudden interest in the constituency, stating that they have never seen or heard of him in any of their meetings before. One delegate mentioned, “Many years of Mr Nyantakyi being the president of the Ghana Football Association, he never showed up anywhere in Ejisu as an indigene. We don’t know him; he must back off.”

Another delegate voiced concerns about Nyantakyi using the constituency to clear his tainted image, stating, “We want someone with a noble character like John Kumah to lead us in parliament, not Nyantakyi.”

Delegates also expressed shock and anger towards the national executives for not disqualifying Nyantakyi, labeling him as an alien and not known within the party. “If delegates vote for him because of money, voters will reject him, affecting the party in the general elections. Let’s be mindful and reward those who have worked hard, unlike Nyantakyi,” another delegate emphasized.

Meanwhile, amidst the controversy, nine individuals, including three women, are eyeing the vacant Ejisu Constituency seat. Notable contenders include four-time contender Abena Pokuaa Boaitey, the wife of Bono Region Chairman of the NPP, Portia Acheampong Abronye, and the current Presiding Member of the Ejisu Municipal Assembly, Helena Mensah.

With the race heating up, it remains to be seen who will emerge victorious in the contest for the Ejisu Constituency seat, as tensions rise and delegates make their voices heard.
