The Immanuel Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) in Abonse-Akuapem held a church service on Sunday to launch its 150th-anniversary celebration, expressing gratitude for God’s goodness and mercy.
The theme for the year-long celebration is “Celebrating 150 years of God’s faithfulness: Growing together in Christ’s Unity and Love (Psalm 119:90).”
During the service, the anniversary planning committee was inaugurated, and the official logo was unveiled.
In his sermon, the Minister in Charge, Rev. John Terkpernor Nartey, encouraged elderly Christians to be exemplary ambassadors of their faith, living lives that truly reflect their commitment to Jesus Christ. He emphasized that this would have a positive impact on the youth, children, and society as a whole.
The Keynote address was delivered by Rev. Christian Kwafo, the Adukrom District Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. He commended the Church for its accomplishments over the past 150 years and assured the support of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in the anniversary celebration.
The anniversary celebration will feature various programs, including a love feast, fasting and prayers, a cooking competition, Bible quizzes, historical storytelling, an inter-school spelling bee, homecoming, a clean-up exercise, and an open-air crusade.
The program will run from December 2023 to October 2024.
