Grassroots Movement of Ghana Calls for Change
Accra, 23rd August, 2023 – The Grassroots Movement of Ghana has issued a press release reaffirming their call for change and progressive development in the country. Comprised of ambitious and hungry youth, the movement aims to bring about efficient development and a brighter future for Ghana.
In their statement, the Grassroots Movement emphasizes the importance of embracing the principles of patriotism, pragmatism, honesty, empathy, discipline, and hard work – known as P.P.H.D. They believe that these virtues are essential for effective leadership and have identified Honorable Kennedy Ohene Agyapong as a politician who possesses these qualities in abundance.
While acknowledging that Agyapong may have his weaknesses, the Grassroots Movement believes that when harnessed correctly, these weaknesses can become strengths that will drive the transformation agenda of the country. They see Agyapong as a potential catalyst for progress and prosperity, referring to him as the Heracles of our time.
The movement emphasizes that patriotism, pragmatism, honesty, and discipline are the keys to putting Ghana on the path of progress. They express concern over the prevailing indiscipline in society, which they believe has hindered socio-economic development. Additionally, they highlight the importance of respecting the constitution and executing the government’s mandate effectively.
Honorable Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, popularly known as “Akompreko,” has consistently advocated for shunning indiscipline and embracing patriotism and honesty. Seen by many Ghanaians as an honest individual, Agyapong has been vocal in criticizing both the previous government of John Dramani Mahama and the current government of Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo when he believes their decisions and policies are not in the best interest of the country.
The Grassroots Movement believes that Agyapong is the only proven politician among the contenders for the flagbearership in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who can lead Ghana to the promised land. They call on the youth of the country to support him and send a strong message to the NPP that their aim should not be limited to breaking the eight-year cycle of government, but rather to address the pressing issues faced by the youth, such as unemployment and the need for a better future.
The movement stresses their commitment to the “Ghana first” agenda and urges the delegates to ensure that Agyapong is among the five candidates during the Super delegates voting on August 26. They further emphasize that their mantra for the 2024 elections is “No Ken, No Vote,” indicating their intention to hold the NPP accountable if Agyapong is not chosen as the flagbearer.
