Fidelity Bank Ghana has donated GH¢50,000 to the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) to support the construction of a press centre for journalists in the Ashanti Region. The cheque was presented on February 5, 2026, during a one-day financial sector training programme for journalists at the Lancaster Kumasi Hotel.
The Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, Mr. Julian Opuni, stated that the donation is part of the bank’s commitment to media development and responsible financial reporting. “Journalists play a critical role in shaping public understanding of financial issues and promoting transparency within the banking sector,” he said.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the GJA, Mr. Kofi Adu Domfe, expressed gratitude for the donation, saying it would significantly boost the press centre project. “This donation has come at an ideal time, and we are extremely grateful to Fidelity Bank for responding positively to our appeal,” he said.
The press centre is expected to serve as a professional hub for journalists, providing office space, training facilities, and a platform for media engagement and capacity building in the region.
