Akyem Kotoku Overlord Elevates Nwinsohene to Obrempong

Kotoku Palace came alive with color, tradition, and celebration on Tuesday, 10th February 2026, as nearly a thousand people gathered for a significant Kotoku State Council meeting.

The highlight of the occasion was the elevation of several chiefs, including the young and dynamic Nwinsohene, Baffuor Yeboah Osei Hwedie II.

Installed as Chief of Nwinso on 14th April 2025, Baffuor Yeboah Osei Hwedie II has, within a short period, distinguished himself through dedicated service and impactful contributions to the Akyem Kotoku State.

His enterprises did not go unnoticed by Akyem Kotoku Overlord, His Gracious Majesty Oseadeeyo Dr. Frimpong Manso IV.

In conferring on him the prestigious title of Obrempong, Kotoku Overlord praised his character and commitment, stating: “You are a selfless person. Your impact in Kotoku has been tremendous. I know you are prepared to defend and advance the cause of Akyem Kotoku State with unwavering dedication and the last drop of your blood”.

The Obrempong title is traditionally reserved for chiefs who have demonstrated exceptional loyalty, leadership, and service over a period often spanning 10 to 15 years.

Baffuor Osei Hwedie’s elevation, coming less than a year after his installation, underscores the remarkable nature of his contributions and the confidence reposed in him by the Akyem Kotoku Overlord.

Known in private life as Prince Owusu Yeboah, now Obrempong Yeboah Osei Hwedie II, is an accomplished professional. He received his secondary education at Apam Senior High School (2000–2002) before proceeding to the University of Cape Coast, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree (2003–2007).

He previously worked with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) during his national service before transitioning into the private sector.

From 2011-2017, Obrempong worked with Union Oil as station manager.

Obrempong Osei Hwedie II serves as Director of Marketing at IBM, a leading oil marketing company in Ghana, where he has built a reputation for strategic leadership and innovation.

Several chiefs present at the ceremony took turns to congratulate the newly elevated Obrempong and encouraged him to continue his dedicated service to the State.

With this new status, Obrempong
Yeboah Osei Hwedie strengthens his standing among the influential traditional leaders of Akyem Kotoku State.

His elevation signals both recognition of past service and expectation of even greater contributions to the advancement and unity of the State.
