The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has pledged to provide lifetime health insurance coverage to the widows and children of the eight gallant military personnel who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash. This initiative, announced by NHIA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, aims to alleviate the financial burden associated with healthcare costs, ensuring that the families can access quality medical care without worrying about the financial implications.
A Symbol of Support and Care
Dr. Bampoe emphasized that the NHIA’s decision underscores its commitment to honouring the sacrifices of the fallen heroes while providing comprehensive support to their loved ones. “The lifetime coverage will enable the families to access quality healthcare without financial strain, allowing them to focus on rebuilding their lives,” he explained. This move demonstrates the NHIA’s dedication to caring for the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.
Comprehensive Healthcare Coverage
The NHIA’s initiative is part of a broader effort to expand healthcare coverage in Ghana. The Authority is set to roll out free primary healthcare and the Ghana Medical Care Trust (Mahama Cares), which will cover non-communicable diseases. Dr. Bampoe assured that the families of the fallen heroes would benefit from these initiatives, ensuring they receive comprehensive healthcare coverage when needed.
Paying Tribute to the Fallen Heroes
A delegation led by Dr. Bampoe participated in the state funeral of the eight fallen heroes, paying their respects to the bereaved families. The NHIA Chief Executive also laid a wreath at the Military Cemetery, honouring the memory of the fallen heroes whose death shook the nation. This gesture underscores the NHIA’s commitment to recognizing the sacrifices of those who have served their country
