Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council Calls for Immediate Action to Halt Violence in Asuom

The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council has urged the Eastern South Police command to take swift action to restore normalcy and prevent further unrest in Asuom, following reports of violence and an unlawful attempt to install a new chief.

According to the Council, the destooled Amankrado of Asuom, Bafour Boadi Obodade, has organized thugs to disrupt the peace and has attempted to raid the Asuom Palace. Furthermore, an unauthorized ceremony was held to install Kwadwo Obeng as the new chief, which the Council declares “null, void, and of no effect”.

The Council reaffirms that Osabarima Ofosuhene Apenteng remains the legitimate chief of Asuom and condemns the actions of the destooled Amankrado as an affront to the dignity of Okyeman and a violation of customary law.

The Council calls on the Police to:

  • Restore order and public safety
  • Probe the incident
  • Bring perpetrators to book

The Council also urges the people of Asuom to exercise restraint and preserve public safety and order.

This development follows a report made by Osabarima Ofosuhene Apenteng to the Kyebi Executive Council regarding the conduct of the destooled Amankrado. The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council views this situation as a serious threat to peace and stability in the region and demands immediate action.
