Ghana Premier League: Relegation Battle Heats Up as Olympics and Lions Win

Great Olympics and Heart of Lions took a significant step towards survival in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday, with crucial wins on the road on matchday 32. Olympics edged out Asante Kotoko 1-0, while Heart of Lions defeated Medeama SC 1-0, boosting their hopes of avoiding relegation.

In the match against Asante Kotoko, Olympics were fortunate to escape an early deficit when Steven Mukwala missed a penalty in the 18th minute. However, they capitalized on their set-piece opportunities, with Raymond Oko Grippman scoring in the 43rd minute to secure a 1-0 win for the visiting team.

Meanwhile, in Tarkwa, Ebenezer Abban scored a late winner for Heart of Lions, propelling them to a 1-0 victory over Medeama SC and elevating them to 13th place in the league standings.

In another match, Nsoatreman and Accra Lions played out a 1-1 draw, sharing the spoils and maintaining their mid-table positions.

These results have significant implications for the relegation battle, with Great Olympics and Heart of Lions now sitting in 14th and 13th place, respectively, with 36 points each. Asante Kotoko, on the other hand, remains in 6th place with 43 points, while Medeama SC slips to 10th place with 38 points.
