NDC FEC Refers Odododiodio Parliamentary Primary Disturbances to Special Committee

The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has taken action regarding the recent violent incident that occurred during the vetting of aspirants for the Odododiodio Constituency parliamentary primary. In a meeting held on October 17, 2023, FEC discussed the unfortunate event and decided to refer the matter to a Special Committee for investigation and recommendations.

The violence and the appeal process related to the eligibility of one of the aspirants will be thoroughly examined by the Special Committee. The committee, composed of esteemed individuals, includes Rt. Hon. Edward Doe Adjaho, former Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, National Vice Chairman of the NDC, Mr. George Loh, Deputy Director Legal of the NDC, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, Deputy Director of Communications of the NDC, and Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu, Member of Parliament for Wa West Constituency.

As a result of the ongoing investigations, all activities pertaining to the NDC’s parliamentary primary in the Odododiodio Constituency have been temporarily halted. The party is awaiting the outcome of the Special Committee’s findings before proceeding with the primary process.

Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the NDC, signed the statement, emphasizing the party’s commitment to resolving the issue and ensuring a fair and peaceful primary election in the Odododiodio Constituency.

The referral of the disturbances to the Special Committee demonstrates the NDC’s dedication to upholding democratic principles and maintaining a transparent and inclusive electoral process. The party aims to address the incident promptly and take appropriate measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

The findings and recommendations of the Special Committee will be eagerly awaited by party members and the public alike, as they will play a crucial role in determining the way forward for the NDC’s parliamentary primary in Odododiodio.
