In a recent survey conducted by Global Info Analytics, Ghanaians have expressed their confidence in the performance of Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akufo Dampare. The poll results indicate that a majority of 61% of respondents have faith in the way he carries out his duties. However, the survey also sheds light on concerns regarding the Ghana Police Service’s ability to manage the upcoming 2024 election.

The survey, which aimed to gauge public opinion on the Inspector General of Police, revealed that Dr. Akufo Dampare has garnered significant support from the Ghanaian population. Out of the respondents, 61% expressed confidence in his performance, highlighting the trust placed in his leadership and approach to law enforcement. On the other hand, 28% of participants stated that they lack confidence in his performance, while 11% did not provide an opinion.

Despite the positive sentiment towards Dr. Akufo Dampare, the survey brought attention to reservations regarding the Ghana Police Service’s preparedness for the 2024 election. Only 49% of voters expressed confidence in the police’s ability to effectively manage the electoral process. This finding raises concerns about the service’s capacity to ensure a fair and secure election.

Furthermore, the survey revealed that 37% of respondents lacked confidence in the police’s ability to handle the 2024 elections. These concerns may stem from previous electoral challenges or a perceived lack of transparency and accountability within the police service. Additionally, 15% of participants did not provide an opinion on the matter, indicating a need for further engagement and information dissemination.

The survey results highlight the importance of addressing the concerns raised by the public regarding the Ghana Police Service’s readiness for the upcoming election. It is crucial for the police authorities to take these findings into consideration and work towards building trust and confidence among the population. Open communication, transparency, and proactive measures to address potential challenges are vital in ensuring a smooth and credible electoral process.

As the 2024 election approaches, it is essential for the Ghana Police Service to address the concerns raised by the survey respondents. By demonstrating their commitment to upholding the rule of law, maintaining peace, and ensuring a fair electoral process, the police can work towards regaining the trust of the Ghanaian people.

The survey conducted by Global Info Analytics serves as a valuable tool for understanding public sentiment towards the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Akufo Dampare, and the Ghana Police Service. It is hoped that these findings will contribute to ongoing efforts to strengthen law enforcement and enhance public confidence in the country’s security apparatus.
