Asante Akim South MP denounces Bawumia to support Alan

From Sebastian R. Freiku, Konongo

Member of Parliament for Asante Akim South, in the Ashanti Region Hon. Kwaku Asante-Boateng, has crossed carpet from Dr.  Mahamudu Bawumia’s camp to that of Hon Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen.

The MP, a known supporter of Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia announced the switch on Monday during the former Trade Minister’s novel cluster delegates durbar at the auditorium of the Church of Pentecost at Konongo where he met delegates from Asante Akim North, South and Central constituencies in the Ashanti region.

Hon. Asante-Boateng explained his decision in the fact that Dr. Alhaji Bawumia’s Bawumia’s team had disrespected him.

He said even when Hon. Isaac Osei and Nana Akomea had asked him to welcome Dr. Alhaji Bawumia’s campaign team to Juaso/Asante Akim South during his campaign tour to the constituency recently, all the members of the Team Bawumia refused to greet him.

He says even though, he was asked to welcome Bawumiah upon his ( vice president’s) arrival, he was ignored and publicly ridiculed to his  utmost dismay which he saw as a sign of disrespect and consequently crossed carpet.

“You cannot disrespect me and expect me to follow you” he told the delegates amid cheers.

The embittered MP stressed he would not turn his back to his own and that whether rain or shine, he would support Alan Kyerematen to the end.
