Cecilia Dapaah Arrested on Suspicion of Corruption
Former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, has been arrested by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) on charges of suspected corruption and corruption-related offenses. The arrest comes following reports of large sums of money and valuable items being stolen from her residence by two househelps in 2022.
According to a press statement released by the OSP, Dapaah was placed under arrest on Monday, July 24, 2023. The statement further revealed that she had resigned from her ministerial position just two days prior to her arrest.
The OSP clarified that Dapaah’s arrest is in connection with the alleged corruption and theft that occurred at her residence. Authorized officers are currently questioning her regarding these allegations.
In a subsequent development, officials from the OSP, accompanied by police personnel, conducted a search at Dapaah’s private home in Abelemkpe, Accra on the same day of her arrest. Curious neighbors gathered around as the security officials entered the premises.
